US concern that second day of Russian airstrikes target anti-Assad forces

Russia has launched air strikes in Syria for a second day, saying that Islamic State had been targeted.
But the US and its allies fear the strikes have been targeting non-IS opponents of Russia's ally, Syrian President Bashar al-Assad. Moscow denies this claim.

American Card Users Start To ‘Chip And Dip’

This Thursday marks a milestone in American use of credit cards, as the country shifts to the use of so-called 'chip and dip', which requires an electronic pin rather than a signature.

From today, if a merchant doesn't have the technology to allow the new style of payment, they'll be liable for any fraud on that transaction.

But the rollout hasn't been entirely smooth, as Lorna Shaddick reports from New York.

US And Russia Trade Competing Syria Narratives at UN (WRAP)

US Secretary of State John Kerry has said Washington is prepared to welcome Russian airstrikes in Syria - but only if they're directed against the Islamic State and Al Qaeda.

Speaking at the UN Security Council in New York, Mr. Kerry said attacks elsewhere would call Russia's intentions into question.

As Lorna Shaddick reports from the UN, it comes after the Russian foreign minister said Wednesday's bombardments came in response to a letter from Bashar al Assad.

Kerry: "grave concerns" if Russia strikes areas where no IS presence

U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry says the United States is prepared to welcome Russian military action in Syria, as long as it is directed against the Islamic State group and al-Qaida affiliates.
Kerry spoke as Russia launched its first airstrikes in Syria targeting what it said were Islamic State positions.
But U.S. officials and others cast doubt on that claim, saying the Russians appeared to be attacking opposition groups fighting Syrian government forces.
Speaking at the U.N. Security Council on Wednesday, John Kerry said that the U.S. would be deeply concerned if Russia targetted other groups.
