Trump targets trade abuses with executive orders

President Donald Trump has signed two executive orders aimed at cracking down on trade abuses and reducing the US trade deficit.

The orders were signed a week before Chinese President Xi Jinping visits the US, but White House officials said the measures were not an attempt to send a message to China.

UN Secretary General Calls for More Aid For Mosul Refugees

Tusk says the EU will not seek to punish Britain for leaving

European Council President Donald Tusk says the European Union will not seek to punish Britain as he laid out draft guidelines for the complex Brexit negotiations ahead.

Mr Tusk was speaking as the 27 remaining members meet in Malta to agree their approach to the talks.    He said the bloc wanted strong relations with the UK, to avoid a hard border between Ireland and Northern Ireland however he added that Britain would have to meet all its financial commitments to the EU.

Mexicans outraged over sex abuse case ruling

A judge in Mexico has been suspended after he dismissed charges in a sexual assault case, arguing that the suspect had shown "no carnal intent".

The ruling has caused outrage throughout the country, with many saying the suspect was able to escape justice due to his wealth and political connections.

House intel panel could take a break - Speaker Ryan

Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives Paul Ryan is suggesting the House Intelligence Committee 'take a pause' on its investigation into how Russia meddled in American politics.

In contrast to the divisions that have emerged between Chair Devin Nunes and top Democrat Adam Schiff, the chairs of the U.S. Senate's Intelligence Committee have made a point of being on the same page, holding public hearings, and working to get to the bottom of the suspicions.

With the House intel chairs expected to meet, Speaker Ryan wants the House panel to do the same.

President frustrated - Speaker Ryan

U.S. President Donald Trump is just frustrated by the lack of progress on repealing and replacing the Affordable Care Act (obamacare) says Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives Paul Ryan.

In a post on social media, President Trump threatened a key group of conservative Republicans, The Freedom Caucus will hurt the entire Republican agenda if they don't get on the team, & fast. We must fight them, & Dems, in 2018!

Speaker Ryan tried to downplay the threat that the President would go after his own party:

AT&T To Build US Emergency Communications Network

The American telecoms company AT&T has been awarded the contract to build a nationwide wireless broadband network for emergency services.
