An man from Rochester New York is behind bars, accused of planning to carry out a New Year's Eve attack in the name of ISIS.

Ukraine and Russia in debt standoff

U.S. reportedly preparing fresh sanctions against Iran

The U.S. is preparing new sanctions against nearly a dozen companies in Iran, Hong Kong and the United Arab Emirates, for their alleged links to Iran's missile program- that's according to the Wall Street Journal.

The sanctions targeting companies and individuals for their alleged role, would be represent the first action since Tehran came to a nuclear deal with the international community in July.

Prosecutors in the US state of Pennsylvania have filed criminal charges against comedian Bill Cosby for the alleged drugging and sexual assault of a woman in 2004.

Originally, prosecutors did not have enough evidence to press forward with the case- but that's now changed after dozens of women have come forward saying they were raped and abused by Cosby.

Bill Cosby is expected to be arraigned in court later today in Pennsylvania.

Two arrests in Brussels over NYE plot

Police in Belgium have arrested two people on suspicion of planning a terrorist attack in Brussels on New Year's Eve...

Military clothing and computer equipment was seized during raids on Sunday and Monday.

Russia broadens sanctions against Turkey

Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a decree extending economic sanctions against Turkey. Restrictions on goods and foods imports, employment of Turkish citizens as well as limitations of some Turkish companies' activities in Russia will take effect from January 1, 2016. MOTORHEAD FRONTMAN 'LEMMY' DIES AT 70

Lemmy, the frontman of British rock band Motorhead, has died at the age of 70, just two days after being diagnosed with cancer.

Born Ian Fraser Kilmister in 1945, he formed Motorhead in 1975 and released 22 albums - the best known being 1980's Ace of Spades.

He lived in Los Angeles and had been diagnosed with an aggressive form of cancer on Saturday.

Brandon Geist from Rolling Stone magazine says he epitomised his art form.

UK BRACES FOR MORE FLOODING

Parts of Northern England and Scotland are braced for yet another round of severe flooding, with a new storm due to sweep in.

Storm Frank is set to hit parts of Cumbria and Yorkshire which have already been devastated by floods in December.

The government is being forced to defend its spending on flood defences after a series of heavy rainfall incidents in a matter of weeks.

The army has been drafted in to help bolster defences, and assist people affected.

Mandy Hall owns a lighting shop in Leeds and says her livelihood is at risk.

REPORT: Russian military in Syria has made Assad 'more stable, safe'

'Russia's involvement in Syria has stabilised Bashar Al Assad's position',  the finding from a Reuters report based on the assessment of several unnamed US officials.

According US military sources, three months into his military intervention in Syria, Russian President Vladimir Putin has strengthened the Assad government position at a relatively low cost.

US state department spokesperson Mark Toner argued against the idea that Russia's 3-month operation had been a success...

No indictment in Tamir Rice case- Cleveland on edge

A white Cleveland police officer will not be charged over the death of a black twelve year old boy, Tamir Rice, who was shot dead just over a year ago while playing with a pellet gun.

Prosecutors said there was no way the officer and his partner could have known the gun was real, when they confronted the boy in November 2014.

The news comes amid heightened tensions over the latest fatal police shootings in Chicago- where protesters are calling for an immediate investigation.

US congratulates Japan and South Korea over 'comfort women' deal

The U.S. has congratulated Japan and South Korea over a historic settlement, reconciling the two countries over the treatment of so-called 'comfort women'.

In a statement, U.S. National Security Advisor Susan Rice said the US fully supports the agreement which irreversibly addresses the issue.

PENTAGON: Operation against ISIS in Ramadi 'proud moment' for Iraq military

The US Pentagon has confirmed that Iraqi troops carried out a successful operation against ISIS forces in Ramadi but cautioned some extremists elements still remain in the city.

US officials in the Iraqi capital described the offensive as a 'proud moment for Iraq'.
