Wall Street closed out the month in the red, after a lacklustre
performance during the final day of August.

Inflation data also out on Thursday will probably do little to change
minds at the Federal Reserve ahead of the next monetary policy
meeting.

Proud Boys Jan 6 riot "instigator" sentenced to 17 years

A leader of the far right Proud Boys group has received the second longest sentence so far of those convicted in connection with the attack on the US capitol on January 6th 2021.

Florida residents warned over approaching hurricane Idalia

The US disaster management agency is warning residents in Florida to
heed warnings about the approaching hurricane.

Idalia is expected to make landfall on the Gulf Coast on Wednesday
morning in an area that has not experienced a major hurricane since
the 1800s.

Forecasters are predicting 12 foot storm surges, with Idalia
strengthening to a Category 3 storm.
