US stocks hit record highs in final November session

US stock markets reached new heights as investor enthusiasm continues following Donald Trump's election victory, despite concerns about possible tariffs.


The S and P 500 posted its best month of the year as November trading came to a close.

UK lawmakers back assisted dying in historic vote

UK lawmakers have voted in favour of historic legislation to allow assisted dying for some terminally ill people.

330 parliamentarians supported the bill while 275 voted against it.

Israel Hamas trade accusations over ceasefire violations

A fragile ceasefire between Israel and Hezbollah mostly appears to be holding- this despite Israel opening fire on mourners at a funeral in the Lebanese town of Khiam, according to local media.

Both sides are trading accusations over violations of the terms of the deal.


Meanwhile at least 33 Palestinians have reportedly been killed and 137 injured in Israeli attacks in the past day in the Gaza Strip.

Inflation ticks up in Eurozone

Inflation ticked up to 2.3 percent in November across the Eurozone
according to the Eurostat statistics agency.

UK MPs TO VOTE ON ASSISTED DYING LEGISLATION

UK MPs will vote later (on Friday) on proposed legislation to legalise assisted dying for terminally ill adults.

The bill would allow adults with mental capacity who are terminally ill to request assistance to die, with approval needed from two doctors and the High Court.

It's a free vote - meaning parliamentarians can vote with their conscience, rather than following a party position.

Conservative MP Kit Malthouse says he'll be voting for the bill.

Net Migration To The UK Falls 20% From Previous Record High

Net migration to the UK fell by 20% in the year to June 2024, after record high numbers the year before. 


The decline was driven by stricter rules imposed by the previous Conservative government, which included a clampdown on the dependents of those on study visas.


Figures from the Office for National Statistics show net migration was an estimated 728 thousand, down from 906 thousand in the year to June 2023.


Migration was a key issue at the last UK general election, but the Labour Government has rejected calls for a new cap on visas.


Migration minister Seema Malhotra has said that the "underlying causes" of migration need to be addressed.
