US embassy urges Iraqis to evacuate ahead of dam collapse

The largest dam in Iraq is in danger of collapse, according to
officials from the US embassy in Iraq.

The Mosul dam was briefly seized by ISIS last year, and there are
fears that if it bursts, the flooding could kill nearly 1 and a half
million people.

Tech Companies Unite To Support Apple Inc.

Several tech companies, including Google's parent Alphabet Inc.,
Facebook and Microsoft plan to file a joint motion supporting Apple in
its court fight against the Justice Department over unlocking an
alleged terrorist's iPhone. More than 25 major tech firms, media

"Momentum is now on our side" - how defence chief Ash Carter described the US-led fight against the so-called Islamic State.

During a Pentagon briefing, Mr Carter said Washington-backed forces have pushed ISIS out of the Syrian town of Shaddadi - a key strategic location for the extremists.

US Student Detained in North Korea Apologises


An American student who has been arrested in North Korea has publicly apologised for his alleged crime, trying to steal a political banner from his hotel.

21 year old Otto Warmbier, who's an undergraduate at the University of Virginia, made the admission in front of media in Pyongyang.

"Spotlight" Wins Top Honors at Hollywood's Annual Academy Awards

Hollywood's biggest night came to a nail-biting finish Sunday, as
"Spotlight" a film about journalists investigating abuse in the
Catholic Church won best picture. Leonardo DiCaprio, a six-time

Gianni Infantino elected as Fifa President

After a second round of voting, Gianni Infantino has been elected as Fifa's new president.


He replaces Sepp Blatter, who has held the job since 1998, but stepped down over allegations of corruption into the footballing body and criminal investigations at Fifa.

US Fourth Quarter GDP Growth Revised Higher

America's economic growth slowed down in the fourth quarter of 2015, but not as much as was initially thought, according to a new estimate from the US Commerce Department.

FIFA introduces new reforms at the footballing body

207 FIFA delegates are meeting in Zurich today to elect a new leader.


It comes following months of scandal and criminal investigations at the world's footballing body.


Five candidates are standing to replace the now banned Sepp Blatter - with Giani Infantino the current Uefa General Secretary and Sheikh Salman the President of the Asian Football Confederation the two frontrunners. 


Before the election process began , a new set of reforms has been voted in at the footballing body.

Report: 130,000 refugees ‘disappeared’ in Germany

Over 130,000 refugees who applied for asylum last year in Germany are unaccounted for, according to a German media report.

Russia and US push for Syrian factions to sign up to ceasefire deal

Russia and the United States are pushing for the opposition sides they support in the Syrian conflict to sign up to a ceasefire agreement.

Both the Syrian rebels and the government are expected to say whether they agree by 11GMT Friday with the cessation of hostilities deal set to come into force Saturday.

Four dead, dozen injured in Kansas shooting spree

Three people have been killed and more than a dozen others injured after a mass shooting at a Kansas factory.

The gunman was later shot and killed by officers at Excel Industries in Hesston.

The local sheriff said the shooting spree started in neighboring streets before the gunman entered the Excel factory.

Harvey County Sheriff T. Walton described the shootings but ruled out terrorism.

Mass shooting reported at Kansas factory

Law enforcement officials have confirmed a mass shooting in the US
state of Kansas.

Apple files motion denying FBI request

Apple has filed a motion to vacate in its on-going battle with the FBI
over access to a killer's iPhone. The tech giant rejected the
government's request to create new software to allow law enforcement
officials to break into the iPhone belonging to one of the assailants
in the San Bernardino massacre.

UN confirms unsuccessful air drops of aid into Syrian besieged town

The United Nations has announced on Thursday that the first round of
air drops to Syria's besieged town of Deir al-Zour has failed.

The costly operation was the first attempt to air drop supplies into a
