NYC officials: 8 dead in Manhattan attack, suspect shot and in custody

At least eight people have been killed and 15 others injured in New York City, after a truck plowed into pedestrians and cyclists on a section of the West Side Highway in Lower Manhattan.

City officials say the suspect was shot and is now in police custody.

New York Police Commissioner said the truck also collided with a school bus, injuring two students and two adults. The suspect was shot by a police officer as he emerged from the vehicle.

Governor Andrew Cuomo says while it appears to be deliberate act, there does not appear to be a wider plot.
