CO2 levels surged to record highs last year

The World Meteorological Organization has announced that CO2 levels in
the Earth's atmosphere last years hit highs not seen in 800,000 years.

Scientists blame the El Niño weather pattern and human activities for
these figures and warn this could severely impact efforts to meet
global temperature goals.

William Denselow reports from United Nations headquarters in New York.
