The United Nations Security Council is hosting an open debate to
discuss ways on fighting terrorism in the Middle East and
North Africa.
Russia has proposing a draft resolution at the meeting but world
leaders remain divided on what role Syria's President Bashar al-Assad
should play in the process.
Highlighting the failures of past attempts to bring stability to the
Middle East, Russia's Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov stressed to the
council the importance to work with Syria's leader.
