WH: Russian military presence in Syria to keep 'middle east influence'

Deconflication talks with Russia remain a priority - the word from the White House Wednesday as Russian air strikes begin in Syria.

It's unclear exactly what was targeted by the Russian operation, but reportedly rebel-controlled areas of Homs were hit.

Spokesperson Josh Earnest would not speculate on the target of the Russian warplanes, but said Russia's Putin is still clearly out to support his ally, Syrian President Bashar al Assad.
