French PM continues with last-ditch talks ahead of confidence vote

The French prime minister is holding more meetings with opposition parties on Tuesday over his controversial budget.

It comes ahead of his expected downfall in a confidence vote he called in himself, set to be held on 8th September.

He is hoping to sway some of the opposition not to vote him out of office next week.

Putin and Xi in China reaffirm “comprehensive strategic partnership”

Russia's President Vladimir Putin, on an official visit in China, has met for talks with his Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping. They signed over 20 bilateral agreements, including a major gas pipeline deal. Putin praised 'unprecedentedly high level' relations with Beijing, as Xi said Sino-Russian ties have withstood "test of changing international circumstances". Belgium to recognize Palestinian statehood
