French politicians call for explanations over Macron’s involvement in leaked ‘Uber files’ texts

French opposition politicians have called on the president to provide a full explanation after the leak of the so-called 'Uber files' to 42 international publications such as the British newspaper, the Guardian.

One far-left MP says he is considering the creation of a parliamentary commission of inquiry to look into the matter further, after Emmanuel Macron was said to have helped Uber get a foothold in the French market via undisclosed meetings.

Russia announces "routine maintenance" of Nord Stream One, raising fears across Europe

The German government says it's concerned Russia may be planning to tighten energy supplies after Moscow claimed it needs to carry out "routine maintenance" on the critical Nord Stream 1 gas pipeline.


The pipeline is shutting for the next 10 days after the sudden announcement from Moscow.

Leaked documents claim Uber broke laws to get to the top

Leaked documents claim ride-hailing company Uber lobbied governments,
swindled police and broke laws as it expanded across the world between
2013 and 2017.

Over a hundred thousand records, including emails and texts, were
leaked to The Guardian newspaper in what are being called the Uber
files.

Boris Johnson won't endorse any candidate to succeed him

Boris Johnson says he won't be endorsing any of the 11 candidates who have declared an interest in replacing him as Conservative Party leader and UK Prime Minister.


He says he worries that an endorsement could damage the chances of any candidate he selects.


The party's 1922 Committee that runs the election says the field of 11 will be narrowed down to two choices by next Thursday, through a series of votes of the Conservative parliamentary party.
