U.S. Congress passed $1.5tr funding bill with Ukraine support

US lawmakers have passed a $1.5 trillion dollar funding bill, which
includes more than $13 billion to help Ukraine.

The agreement narrowly averts a shutdown this weekend, keeping the
government funded until September.

Extraordinary meeting planned over Ukraine for Council of Europe

The Council of Europe will hold an extraordinary two-day session next week to address the Russian invasion over Ukraine.

Ukraine's president Volodymyr Zelensky is expected to address the meeting of Europe's top human rights and rule of law organisation when it meets on Monday and Tuesday.

POLAND REFUGEE UPDATE

The UN says the number of refugees fleeing the violence in Ukraine now tops 2 million -- with that figure expected to climb in the next few weeks.


Most people are heading to Poland, which has taken in a majority of the displaced people.

UK Journalist in Kyiv says mass graves being filled in Ukraine

Russia has continued to bombard Ukraine with airstrikes and shelling.


New targets, such as Lutsk and Dnipro have now faced heavy Russian attacks.


The number of casualties since the invasion is in the thousands.

Modi's party wins big in regional elections

Threats against election officials rise over baseless fraud claims

US local election officials are increasingly concerned about facing threats fuelled by false allegations of voter fraud in the last Presidential race, according to a national survey published on Thursday.

Ukraine civilian death toll rises to at least 516

NIGERIAN SOLDIERS KILLED BY CRIMINAL GANGS IN THE COUNTRY’S KEBBI STATE

Some Nigerian soldiers and other security personnel have been killed by criminal gangs in the country's northwest state of Kebbi.


The casualty figure is yet to be verified by the military, but locals in the state say it's about 15 of them. 

 

The soldiers who were attached to the state's deputy governor were killed during an attack on his convoy on Tuesday evening.
