The United States Senate is on the cusp of passing legislation to increase funding in science and technology with the aim of countering innovation from China.

Lawmakers are nearly at a final vote on the bipartisan Innovation and Competition Act of 2021.

California offers over $100 million in vaccine incentives

California is offering incentives worth one hundred sixteen and a half million dollars to encourage people to get vaccinated against COVID-19 in the coming weeks.


The state's governor says he hopes 70% of adults will be vaccinated by mid-June.

AUSTRIAN FLIGHT DENIED ACCESS TO RUSSIA AFTER PLANNING TO AVOID BELARUS

An Austrian Airlines flight was cancelled on Thursday after Russian aviation authorities rejected the proposed flight plan, which avoided Belarusian airspace.

US President Joe Biden has called for a ceasefire in Ethiopia's conflict in the northern region of Tigray.

Mr Biden demanded an end to "large-scale human rights abuses". The fighting, now in its seventh month, has killed thousands and forced two million from their homes.
