Dylann Roof to plead guilty in state trial

Convicted South Carolina church gunman Dylann Roof is set to plead guilty to murder in his state trial.

Roof has already been sentenced to death following his federal trial for the 2015 slaughter of nine black parishioners in Charleston, South Carolina.

Trump, Xi meetings expected to be 'difficult'

The White House is reiterating President Trump's tweet that there are difficult issues between Washington and Beijing for President Donald Trump and President Xi JinPing to discuss.

Mike Flynn should testify

The White House says Michael Flynn, the former National Security Adviser who was pushed out over his questionable contacts with foreign governments, should testify on what he knows.

Earlier, U.S. President Donald Trump tweeted that Mike Flynn should be granted immunity.

The White House also maintains that no ties between the Trump team and Russia will be found.

UN Secretary General Calls for More Aid For Mosul Refugees

The UN Secretary General has called for more help to be sent to people fleeing the Iraqi city of Mosul, which government forces are fighting to retake from the so-called Islamic State.

Antonio Guterres said the UN doesn't currently have enough resources to help over 350,000 residents who have left the city, where street battles have been raging for weeks.

EU sends out brexit guidelines

Talks on a trade deal between the UK and the EU can begin once "sufficient progress" is made on the divorce deal .

That's the message from European council president Donald Tusk after he sent out a set of guidelines for brexit to the remaining 27 EU member states.

Tusk says the EU will not seek to punish Britain for leaving

European Council President Donald Tusk says the European Union will not seek to punish Britain as he laid out draft guidelines for the complex Brexit negotiations ahead.

Mr Tusk was speaking as the 27 remaining members meet in Malta to agree their approach to the talks.    He said the bloc wanted strong relations with the UK, to avoid a hard border between Ireland and Northern Ireland however he added that Britain would have to meet all its financial commitments to the EU. 

The leaders have agreed that if enough progress is made on these so-called divorce issues, the EU can begin trade talks.    Mr Tusk said the EU would not seek to punish the UK for leaving.

NATO, Russia share troop movements data, disagree on Ukraine

Russia and NATO agreed to exchange information on their troop movements in Europe during their recent bilateral Counil meeting. Scottish Independence letter sent to Downing Street
