European Union and Mexico to hold trade talks

The European Union and Mexico have agreed to accelerate free trade talks as U.S. President Donald Trumpo says he wants to renegotiate major international trade deals.

European leaders think Brussels should take advantage the new US protectionist position, and step up negotiations with would-be partners.

Three US states join legal action against travel ban

Three more US States have joined lawsuits challenging President Trump's temporary immigration ban.

New York, Massachusetts and Virginia will add their resources to legal challenges claiming that the president's executive order is unconstitutional.

The immigration directive indefinitely bars Syrian refugees from entering the country and temporarily bans entry for people from seven Muslim-majority countries.

"Top gang thugs" in Chicago want to meet Trump.

US President Donald Trump has been told that leading gangland figures in Chicago want to work with his administration in a bid to reduce violence in the city.

The President was holding an event to mark Black History Month when the unusual approach was made.

The Trump administration is reaching out to the African-American community as Black History Month gets underway in the U.S. 

The majority of black voters cast their ballots for Hillary Clinton, although her campaign has been criticized for failing to do enough to reach out to this key interest group which traditionally votes Democrat.

President Trump insists, something has to be done about the murder rate in Chicago, after one participant in the meeting said gang members had reached out to him.

The American president says the African American community helped him win the White House.

Portuguese court throws out McCann family libel case

The Portuguese Supreme Court has thrown out a libel case brought by the British parents of Madeleine McCann who disappeared in 2007 while on holiday in Portugal. 

The McCanns brought the case after a former Portuguese detective published a book alleging Madeleine's parents were involved in the disappearance of their daughter.

UK's former man in Brussels warns Brexit talks will be "humongous"

Britain's former Ambassador to the European Union says talks on Britain's exit from the bloc will be 'humongous' in scale.

Sir Ivan Rogers, who resigned from his post last month, warned European leaders did not expect any deal to be ratified until the early to mid 2020s.   

UK Prime Minister Theresa May has hopes the negations and a trade deal can be concluded within two years.

EU agrees deal to end mobile roaming charges this year

The EU has made a deal to end mobile-roaming charges by this coming June- meaning EU citizens can use their phones across the EU without paying extra. 

The agreed-upon deal caps the fees phone companies pay each other when their customers travel across rival networks.

Marine Le Pen refuses to repay EU, has MEP salary slashed

Far right French presidential candidate Marine Le Pen has refused to repay 320 000 dollars to the European Parliament - for wages paid to her assistant, who the Parliament says never worked there.
