MONITOR: Over '50 civilians killed' by US-airstrike on ISIS stronghold



At least 56 civilians, including several children, have died in US-led coalition air strikes targeting an ISIS-stonghold in north Syria, according to an opposition monitoring group.

The reports comes as the U.S. military says anti-ISIS rebels have pushed deeper into the City of Manbij.

Donald Trump's campaign denies plagiarism



Donald Trump's campaign manager Paul Manafort has denied that Milania Trump plagiarized Michelle Obama during the speech she gave Monday at the Republican National Convention.

Transcripts of both speeches show the text in Milania Trump's address to be nearly identical in places to a speech Michelle Obama gave at the Democratic National Convention in 2008.

Paul Manafort said that Mrs. Trump was speaking about her own life story.

UN Human Rights Boss Urges Turkey To Uphold Rule of Law

The UN's top human rights official has expressed what he called 'serious alarm' at the mass suspensions of judges and prosecutors in Turkey following the failed military coup attempt last week.

The High Commissioner for Human Rights has urged Turkey to uphold the rule of law, and allow independent observers to visit detention facilities.

IMF DOWNGRADES UK GROWTH OVER BREXIT

The International Monetary Fund has slashed its UK growth forecast because of the Brexit vote but is not currently predicting a recession.

However, the IMF says the outlook could deteriorate further if the process of Britain leaving the European Union is more complicated than expected.

Pippa confirms her engagement

Pippa Middleton, the sister of the Duchess of Cambridge, has confirmed she is engaged to be married to her boyfriend James Matthews, a hedge fund manager.

Criticism of Hijab-wearing UK newsreader sparks 800 complaints

More than 800 complaints have been received by a UK press regulator against a British journalist who criticised a newsreader for wearing a hijab while reporting on the Nice terror attack.

Kelvin MacKenzie wrote in his newspaper column he 'could hardly believe his eyes' when he saw Muslim journalist Fatima Manji wearing the traditional headscarf while presenting Channel 4 News, which contained a report on the massacre.

First Legal Challenge to Brexit

The first legal challenge to Brexit has been brought to the UK's High Court, arguing that only the British Parliament can trigger Article 50, not the UK Prime Minster.


Article 50 of the Lisbon Treaty is the clause which starts the formal process of Britain leaving the European Union, following a referendum last month.

ISIS has claimed responsibility for an axe attack on a German train that severely injured four passengers.
