Over 200 School Children Abducted in Nigeria

About 200 pupils have been abducted by gunmen from a school in Kuriga community in Kaduna state, northwest Nigeria.


The armed men surrounded the school while the students and their teachers were on the assembly ground in the morning.

Former Prime Minister Imran Khan's party vows to challenge election results in Supreme court

Exactly a month since Pakistan voted to elect a new government, jailed former Prime Minister Imran Khan's party says they'll challenge the result in the country's Supreme Court.

India deploys 10,000 more soldiers to guard border with China

The Indian government has deployed an additional contingent of 10,000 soldiers to strengthen its borders with China.

Alabama clinics resume IVF services

Some clinics in the US state of Alabama started resuming some in IVF services on Thursday, after services were paused.


The state's Supreme Court last month ruled that frozen embryos are "children" with a constitutional right to life.


Fertility clinics routinely discard unviable and leftover embryos - which could land them in legal trouble under the ruling.

Utility provider admits some responsibility for Texas wildfire

US lawmakers set to pass bill to avoid gvt shutdown

Lawmakers in the United States Congress are close to passing a bill that would avert an imminent partial government shutdown. 


The breakthrough came late on Wednesday night, when the House of Representatives — the lower chamber — voted to approve a $467bn spending package. 


The bill now goes to the Senate, the upper chamber, where leaders have vowed to back the measure "with time to spare."
