US unemployment claims fall

There's been a drop in the number of people applying for unemployment
benefits in the US.

It comes after the figure had been rising for several weeks.

US limits visas for Chinese Communist Party members

The US government has introduced new rules limiting travel to America

Former French president Valery Giscard d’Estaing dies at the age of 94

The former French president Valery Giscard d'Estaing (PRON: Zhis-car Destang) has died at the age of 94.

He served as president from 1974-1981 and he was noted for socially liberal policies. He served in WWII and at 48 was the youngest president until current leader Emmanuel Macron was elected.

AFRICA TO RECEIVE NEW HIV TREATMENT FOR CHILDREN

Belgium sets inoculation start date

UK BEGINS VACCINATION CAMPAIGN

The UK government is beginning a campaign to convince the British public of the safety of a Pfizer covid-19 vaccine which has been approved for use from next week.

Regulators approved the Pfizer-biontech jab on Wednesday.

Vulnerable people and healthcare workers will start being vaccinated next week.

UN to get access to Ethiopia’s’ Northern region


The United Nations says it will now be able to secure humanitarian access to Ethiopia's Northern Tigray region where there's been fighting between government and regional forces since 4th November.


It says it has signed a deal with Ethiopia's government to allow "unimpeded" humanitarian access to the embattled Tigray region.
