COVID-19: Uganda Starts Clinical Trials for Blood Plasma

Intro;

Uganda has launched a clinical trial involving the use of convalescent plasma to treat COVID-19 patients.

 

Convalescent plasma therapy involves taking blood from a recovered COVID-19 patient and injecting it in to someone who's currently ill.

 

The blood carries antibodies, which could help the sick fight off the viral infection.

UK BRUSHES OFF BIDEN BREXIT COMMENTS

The UK government says it;s not concerned about an intervention from US presidential candidate Joe Biden in the Brexit debate.

After a visit to Washington by UK Foreign Secretary Dominic Raab, Mr Biden tweeted that peace in Northern Ireland shouldn't become a 'casualty' of Brexit.

It follows legislation that would allow the UK to over-ride parts of the Brexit Withdrawal Agreement in a No Deal scenario with the EU.

But health minister Edward Argar says the UK would never endanger the Good Friday Agreement, so he isn't worried about Mr Biden's comments.

The UK government is denying reports it is being advised by its scientists to impose a two week national lockdown to stop coronavirus spreading.

200 Inmates Break Out of Prison in North-East Uganda

India reports record daily surge in Covid-19 infections
