TRANSPORT MINISTER ADMITS QUARANTINE RULES FOR UK ARRIVALS "CONFUSING"

UK Transport Secretary, Grant Shapps, admits the quarantine rules for people entering the UK from abroad have become "confusing".

The four nations of the UK - England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland make their own judgement on the risk of contracting coronavirus abroad.

Now some countries deemed high-risk by one nation are not deemed high-risk by another, meaning returning travellers may have to quarantine if returning to Scotland but not if returning to England.

UK GOVT UNDER FIRE OVER INTERNATIONAL TRAVEL

The UK government is admitting quarantine rules for international arrivals have become 'confusing' with England, Northern Ireland, Wales and Scotland imposing different restrictions.

England and Northern Ireland are still allowing quarantine-free arrival from Portugal, while Scotland and Wales are requiring isolation.

Travel bosses are also criticising the government for not bringing in testing on arrival at ports and airports.

Transport Secretary Grant Shapps says it's being looked at, but isn't considered a silver bullet.
