More than 382,000 dead in South Sudan civil war according to new study

At least 382,000 people have died in South Sudan's civil war according to a new study funded by the US State Department. 

That number is far higher than an earlier estimates from the United Nations.

The research was conducted by the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine.

Salisbury suspect 'was actually top spy colonel who got Putin medal'

Murdoch accepts Comcast's offer for Sky


After almost three decades at the helm of broadcaster Sky, Rupert Murdoch's 21st Century Fox has sold its 39% share in the media business.

Real identity of one of Salisbury assassins "revealed"



The real identity of one of the Russian assassins wanted in connection with the poisoning of several people in the British city of Salisbury has reportedly been revealed. 

The man the British authorities said used the named Ruslan Boshirov is a decorated colonel in Russia's military intelligence according to the investigative journalism organization Bellingcat.

Indian court upholds country's biometric scheme, with conditions

India's Supreme Court has decided that the Aadhaar, the country's biometric identity card, is constitutionally valid.

But the court has included some limits on how people can use it- putting in various safeguards to prevent its misuse.

Aadhaar records a person's biometric and demographic details- petitioners had alleged this violates a citizen's right to privacy.

BELUGA WATCH IN THE THAMES

Conservationists and rescue teams are on standby to help a beluga whale if it reappears in the River Thames.

It was spotted on Tuesday near Gravesend in Kent, to the east of London.

Experts say the whale, which normally lives in the Arctic, must be lost - and were concerned it would swim down the Thames into London rather than back out to sea.
