Indian court upholds country's biometric scheme, with conditions

India's Supreme Court has decided that the Aadhaar, the country's biometric identity card, is constitutionally valid.

But the court has included some limits on how people can use it- putting in various safeguards to prevent its misuse.

Aadhaar records a person's biometric and demographic details- petitioners had alleged this violates a citizen's right to privacy.
