Zuckerberg to Testify Before US Congress

Facebook founder and CEO Mark Zuckerberg has reportedly decided to testify before  the US Congress.

He has turned down a request to testify before lawmakers in the United Kingdom, where Facebook will send two deputies instead.

Woman at center of landmark school desegregation case has died

The woman who, as a young girl, was at the heart of the landmark school desegregation case at the U.S. Supreme Court, Brown vs. Board of Education, has passed away.

Linda Brown was 75 years old.

US seeks Chinese help to avoid trade war

The US government has asked China to ease restrictions on American cars to avoid new tariffs on Chinese goods. 


The Trump administration announced import duties totaling $60 billion last week, but is now asking for Beijing's assistance to reduce the punitive measures.

Zuckerberg sends executive, declines to appear before UK MPs over Cambridge Analytica controversy

Manchester Arena attack report: Fire service too slow to respond

A report into the response to the Manchester Arena bombing last year has said fire fighters were prevented from helping rapidly due to poor procedures. 

The report by former civil servant Lord Kerslake said the fire service knew it had let down the people of their city that night. 

The suicide attack by Salman Abedi last May killed 22 people and injured more than 500.

US government to add citizenship question to census

A question about citizenship status will appear on the US census for the first time in 70 years.

IGAD lifts house arrest of South Sudan former VP Riek Machar

The Intergovernmental Authority For Development, or IGAD, has decided to lift the house arrest of former South Sudan opposition leader Riek Machar.

He has been confined in Pretoria, South Africa since 2016 on a joint decision of the IGAD - a trade bloc of eight east African countries, along with Norway, the United Kingdom and the United States.

Two charged over antisemitic murder in Paris

Two people have been charged with racially aggravated murder - after an 85 year old Jewish woman was found dead in her Paris apartment.

Controversy over Indian Prime Minister's official mobile app

India's ruling party, the BJP has denied allegations that Prime Minister Narendra Modi's official app is sending the personal data of users to a third party.

The allegation was made by a French security researcher who tweets under the pseudonym Elliot Alderson.

Report exposes how Belgians hide their money from tax in Luxembourg

48 billion euros (60 billion dollars) has been hidden from the Belgian taxman in shell companies in Luxembourg according to an investigation by Belgian paper Le Soir.

The report claims that 60 of Belgium's richest 100 people used shell companies in Luxembourg to avoid paying the famously high Belgian tax.

List of EU Countries Expelling Russians Grows to 16

The number of European Union member states to expel Russian diplomats now stands at sixteen. 

Countries in Europe, North America and Australia have ordered more than one hundred Russian diplomats to return home, as relations between the West and Moscow further deteriorate.

US, China reportedly in talks over trade

The US and China are reportedly in talks to avoid a trade war.

Washington is said to be demanding Beijing cut tariffs on imported cars, allow foreign majority ownership of financial firms, and buy more US semiconductors.

The move comes after President Trump announced last week the US would slap tariffs on Chinese goods.

Russia promises to retaliate for expulsions

Russia says it'll retaliate over the expulsion of more than a hundred of its diplomats from several countries in Europe and North America.

The Kremlin has called the US-led response to the poisoning of a former spy and his daughter in Britain a "provocative gesture."

And Russia's ambassador to the US says the move will "destroying what is left" of ties between the two countries.

Some 60 Russian intelligence agents stationed in Washington, Seattle and the UN in New York are being told to leave within a week.

UN says DRC aid talks still on despite Kinshasa's threat not to participate

Trump administration opens investigation into Facebook

The US Federal Trade Commission is to investigate whether Facebook has "failed" to protect users' privacy.

14 EU States Expel Russian Officials

Fourteen European Union states and Ukraine have announced they'll be joining the US and expelling Russian diplomats. 

Germany, France and Poland are each expelling four diplomats each—the Netherlands and Italy are expelling two Russian diplomats each.

The strong response from half of EU members comes as anger towards Moscow grows in many European capitals for the Kremlin's lack of cooperation in the Salisbury attack.
