Burundian opposition to boycott talks

The United Nations says the Burundian opposition will not attend the
latest round of talks aimed at ending political tensions.

Limited practical effects for North Korea designation

Keystone pipeline clears final regulatory hurdle

Officials in the US state of Nebraska have given the green light to construction of the controversial Keystone XL pipeline in their state.

This is is see as the last major regulatory hurdle to the pipeline, which TransCanada has been trying to get approved for nearly a decade.

UN chief "horrified" by Libyan slavery

The United Nations Secretary-General says he is "horrified" at video
allegedly showing young men being auctioned at slave markets in Libya.

The video footage obtained by CNN apparently shows teenagers from
sub-Saharan countries being sold for around $400.

Secretary-General Antonio Guterres spoke out against the alleged slave
markets saying the selling of human beings had "no place in our
world".

Guterres was speaking at the UN headquarters in New York.

U.S. President Donald Trump has announced that he is formally designating North Korea a state sponsor of terrorism.

While the international community was horrified primarily by the assassination of Kim Jong Nam, the half-brother of Kim Jong Un, President Trump is singling out the death of American college student Otto Warmbier.

President Trump confirmed the designation during a Cabinet meeting.

US confirms airstrikes targeting Afghan opium production

The U.S. military is confirming, it's carried out a series of air strikes against facilities transforming poppy juice into heroin.

According to U.S. officials, 85 percent of the world's heroin comes from Afghanistan, an illegal economy valued at around $60 billion.

Zimbabwe's president Robert Mugabe has let a deadline for his resignation pass without stepping aside.

His own ZANU-PF party had set the deadline and its MPs are now discussing Mr Mugabe's future.

The 93 year-old has been threatened with impeachment which could begin on Tuesday when parliament meets.

Zimbabwe's army intervened last week amid a row over who would succeed the President who's been in power for 37 years.

Indian leader announces 100 million bounty for makers of controversial Bollywood film

Right wing groups in India are up in arms about a new Bollywood movie that purportedly depicts a Hindu queen being courted by a Muslim ruler.

A leader of Prime Minister Modi's party, the BJP, has also announced a 100 million bounty on the heads of the director and lead actor of the film for insulting Hindu sentiments.

Kenya Court Upholds Uhuru's Election
