US confirms airstrikes targeting Afghan opium production

The U.S. military is confirming, it's carried out a series of air strikes against facilities transforming poppy juice into heroin.

According to U.S. officials, 85 percent of the world's heroin comes from Afghanistan, an illegal economy valued at around $60 billion.

U.S. Army General John Nicholson, the commander of U.S. forces in Afghanistan described one of the airstrikes.
