TRUMP CALLS FOR 'FAIRER TRADE' AT APEC

US President Donald Trump says he will tackle 'chronic trade abuses' and is calling for Asia-Pacific Economic Co-operation countries to abide by a fairer system.

Speaking to the APEC summit in Vietnam he insisted he didn't blame countries in the region for taking advantage of the United States.

But President Trump says he will now redress the imbalance - insisting the US had lowered market barriers and hadn't seen other countries reciprocating.

However, he says he doesn't hold this against individual APEC members.

Trust me, tax reform will be passed - Speaker Ryan

The Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives  Paul Ryan is confident the massive tax reform package will pass both chambers of the U.S. Congress.

The legislation has been criticized for cutting taxes for the wealthy and not helping poorer Americans, but Speaker Ryan is confident the bill will pass.
