US protests against far-right Florida speech

Hundreds of protesters have gathered in Florida to campaign against a
speech by white nationalist Richard Spencer.

Florida's governor declared a state of emergency ahead of the event
and extra police were drafted in.

The protests were larger peaceful, but came two months after far-right
clashes in Charlottesville, Virginia led to the death of an anti-hate
campaigner.

US correspondent Nick Harper says Florida's protest turned out to be
bigger than anticipated.

Chief of Staff Kelly defends Pres. Trump

White House Chief of Staff John Kelly took to the podium in the briefing room to defend U.S. President Donald Trump's response to the deaths of four Americans in Niger.

He spoke of how the military informs immediate families that a son or daughter, husband or wife, has been killed in combat.

And sharing his own personal experience about losing his own son, General Kelly told reporters about what the American President said and what it mean to the family of Sergeant Johnson.

Pres. Trump repeats false claims on Russia, Pres. Bush criticizes

U.S. President Donald Trump is again raising false claims, trying to distract from how his own administration is doing.

He's both tweeted, and now publicly insisted, the big Russia story is about the sale of a share of a Canadian company which involved processing American mined uranium, and not any suggestion Moscow colluded with his campaign to influence Election 2016.

May wants to talk citizens' rights at EU summit

British Prime Minister Theresa May insists the government and the EU are within touching distance of reaching an agreement on citizens' rights after Brexit. Mrs May repeated her message via Facebook that she wants EU nationals to remain in the UK after the country departs the European block.

Britain's Serious Fraud Office to examine if UK banks are linked to South African scandal

Britain's Serious Fraud Office and financial regulators are to review whether banks based in the UK are linked to a corruption scandal in South Africa.

Lord Peter Hain who was a leading campaigner in South Africa's fight against apartheid, says sources in the country have told him HSBC and Standard Chartered banks may have been used to move laundered funds of up to half a billion US dollars.

Lord Hain says his concerns relate to South African President Jacob Zuma and a wealthy business family, the Guptas, who have been plagued with allegations of corruption in South Africa and who both strenuously deny any allegations of wrongdoing.
