British Prime Minister Theresa May insists the government and the EU are within touching distance of reaching an agreement on citizens rights after Brexit. Mrs May repeated her message via Facebook that she wants the three million or so EU nationals already living in the UK to remain after the country departs the European block.
It comes as the British Prime Minister prepares to meet the EU's 27 other leaders for a summit where the group is widely expected to say not enough progress has been made on key Brexit issues to move onto trade talks.
Britain's Immigration Minister Brandon Lewis says the UK is seeking a deal that is also fair to Britons living in Europe.
