Evacuation orders "unprecedented" in Florida ahead of Irma's arrival

In Florida, evacuation orders are being expanded as the state orders an unprecedented number of residents to flee the storm's path.


In Miami, more than 650 thousand residents have been ordered to leave and both the state's East and West coasts are braced for Irma's impact.

Former US presidents team up for hurricane fundraising

The five former living US presidents have teamed up to raise funds for the victims of Hurricanes Harvey and Irma.

Harvey left at least seventy people dead and displaced more than thirty thousand in the state of Texas.

Hurricane Irma is on track to hit the US state of Florida this weekend, as officials warn residents to prepare for the worst.

Diplomacy still possible to resolve North Korea nuclear crisis

The US State Department says it's willing to talk to North Korea, but only if the country shows it's serious about wanting peace.

There's been increasing concern about the possibility of US military action since North Korea's large nuclear test over the weekend, but State Department spokesperson Heather Nauert told reporters there was still some hope for a diplomatic resolution.

Barbuda "barely habitable" after Hurricane Irma, Florida next

The tiny Caribbean island of Barbuda is 'barely habitable' after Hurricane Irma, with the giant storm bearing down on the Turks and Caicos, with at least 13 dead so far.

Florida is the biggest target for the cyclone, with the Red Cross warning as many as 26 million people could be affected in the coming days.

Pres. Trump takes credit for gains against Islamic State

U.S. President Donald Trump is taking credit for the gains made against the Islamic State in Syria.

He also admitted he has not been briefed on the United Nations report that the Syrian government used chemical weapons multiple times.

According to Pentagon, the U.S. strategy in Iraq and Syria remains essentially unchanged since the Obama administration, except for the one-time bombing run against a Syrian air base in April following a chemical weapons attack.

UN estimates Rohingyas fleeing to Bangladesh could number 300,000 - Reuters

The number of Rohingya Muslims fleeing the latest violence in Myanmar into Bangladesh may reach as many as three hundred thousand, according to a Reuters news agency report.

Amazon seeking second city location for headquarters, to pay 5 billion dollars

Hurricane Irma death toll climbs to at least 10 as it leaves trail of destruction in Caribbean


Hurricane Irma has killed at least ten people so far on its devastating route through the Caribbean.

And the latest forecasts predict it will hit the Florida coast in the US in the next few days.

Syrian opposition advances on Raqqa

The U.S. military is confirming the Syrian Defence Forces are making advances toward the goal of retaking the key city of Raqqa from the Islamic State.

Israeli jets have reportedly hit a suspected chemical weapons site inside Syria, while the government of Bashar Al-Assad earlier claimed it has retaken Deir al-Zour.

U.S. Army Colonel Ryan  Dillon,  the spokesman  Operation Inherent Resolve (CJTF-OIR) confirms Syrian opposition forces have retaken one of Raqqa's most historic sites, the mosque.

UK SENDS MILITARY ASSISTANCE TO CARIBBEAN

The UK is deploying a military taskforce in the Caribbean to help with the relief efforts after Hurricane Irma.

One Royal Navy ship has already arrived off Anguilla, a British territory.

Hundreds of British navy personnel will take part in assisting islands hit by the storm.
