UK SENDS MILITARY ASSISTANCE TO CARIBBEAN

The UK is deploying a military taskforce in the Caribbean to help with the relief efforts after Hurricane Irma.

One Royal Navy ship has already arrived off Anguilla, a British territory.

And the helicopter-carrier HMS Ocean is also being deployed to the region.

Hundreds of British navy personnel will take part in assisting islands hit by the storm.

UK Foreign Office Minister Sir Alan Duncan says Britain will do what it can to help people affected.
