Car Jumps Curb at LA Auto Show, Injuries Reported

Several people were injured Monday after a car crashed into a planter
and sent shards of concrete into a crowd gathered outside the Los
Angeles Auto Show in downtown LA. All injuries were described as
non-life-threatening, but the accident put a dent in Southern
California's signature car event.

Donald Trump pledges TPP withdrawal on day one

President-elect Donald Trump says the US will quit the Trans-Pacific-Partnership trade deal on his first day in office.

In a video message outlining his priorities for his one hundred days in office, Mr Trump also promised to cancel restrictions on shale gas and clean coal production.

Yemen man charged on suspicion of NYC terror plot

US authorities have charged a Yemeni man with attempting to provide
support to the so-called Islamic State. That's according to a
statement by a spokeswoman for the Federal Bureau of Investigation.

Quadruple record highs for US markets

The Wall St rally continued on Monday with all four major US indexes closing at record highs for the first time 1999. 

Rising oil prices also helped to push markets higher.

Syria Rejects UN Aleppo Proposal as Security Council Debates Humanitarian Situation

The Syrian government has rejected a UN proposal to allow eastern Aleppo to remain under opposition control, if rebel fighters withdraw.

Foreign minister Walid al Muallem said the plan was a 'violation of national sovereignty' - it comes as the Security Council was told by a UN humanitarian chief that nearly a million people in Syria are now living under siege.

Human Rights Watch say 1200 homes razed in Myanmar

Human Rights Watch has announced that over 1000 homes belonging to
Myanmar's Muslim Rohingya have been razed.

The government has denied these latest claims but a security operation
has been underway in the Rakhine area of the country for several
weeks.

The Rohingya people are seen as one of world's most persecuted groups
and thousands still live in camps following clashes with the Buddhist
Rakhine in 2012.

Mitt Romney "under consideration" to be Trump's chief diplomat

Governor Mitt Romney is "under serious and active consideration" to become Donald Trump's secretary of state, according to Vice-President-elect Mike Pence.

Mr Romney, who was the Republican nominee in the 2012 presidential election, previously called Donald Trump "a fraud and a phony" in an attempt to derail Mr Trump's campaign.

Governor Pence described Saturday's meeting between Mr Trump and Mr Romney to CBS News.


Senator Rand Paul, who ran for to be the Republican nominee this year, told CBS News he doesn't want to see Rudy Giuliani or John Bolton to become secretary of state.
