Demonstrators at North Dakota Pipeline Hit by Police Water Cannons

INTRO:

Police have used water cannons on activists in the US state of North
Dakota, in a scene that local authorities described as a "riot".

The American Indian community has been protesting construction of an
oil pipeline which they say will contaminate the water supply.
