President Obama hails climate change agreement

U.S. President Barack Obama is hailing the moment that the world and nations have crossed the threshold to put the Paris agreement on climate change fully into effect.

With ratification by the European Union, at least 55 countries representing 55% of the world's emissions have ratified the pact.

President Obama says the international community still needs to do more.

NSA contractor arrested in another embarrassment for US intelligence

Another contractor with America's top-secret National Security Agency has been arrested and is being investigated for the possible theft of secrets.


The man was hired by same company that hired Edward Snowden, the fugitive who leaked millions of classified NSA documents.

Helen Clark Out of Running For UN SG as Guterres Wins

Former New Zealand Prime Minister Helen Clark is out of the running for the post of UN Secretary General, after a clear winner emerged in the sixth straw poll on Wednesday.

John Kerry and Colombian President speak on peace deal

Secretary of State John Kerry has spoken with Colombian President Juan Manuel Santos to reaffirm U.S. support for efforts to seek peace in the South American country.

An NSA contractor was secretly arrested by the FBI in recent weeks after he was found in possession of highly classified documents.

Obama warns of "serious" hurricane

US President Barack Obama is warning Americans not to underestimate the potentially devastating effects of Hurricane Matthew.

The hurricane is currently traveling through the Bahamas after damaging Haiti, and is expected to reach the US state of Florida by Thursday morning.

President Obama is urging Americans in the coastal SouthEast of the country to follow orders to evacuate.

Antonio Guterres Wins 6th UN Straw Poll To Find New Secretary General

Antonio Guterres has won the UN Security Council's sixth straw poll to find a successor to Ban Ki Moon as Secretary General.

 The former Portuguese Prime Minister was the clear winner in the informal vote, which was colour coded for the first time, to mark out the ballots of the permanent five members from the ten elected ones.

UN estimate half of eastern Aleppo’s population want to leave

The United Nations estimate that half the population living in the
eastern part of the besieged Syrian city of Aleppo want to leave.

Investigation into possible terror attack in Brussels after two police officers stabbed

Counter terror in Belgium are investigating the stabbing of two police officers in the capital, Brussels.

Neither officer is mortally injured and the attacker was shot in the leg before being arrested and taken away in an ambulance according to Belgian media.

UN: Attack on Aleppo Convoy Was Air Strike

A United Nations expert has said that satellite imagery of an attack on an aid convoy in Syria in September shows that it was an air strike.

20 people died when over 30 UN and Syrian Arab Red Crescent trucks were hit near the northern city of Aleppo, destroying 18 of them as well as a warehouse and clinic.

UK PM addresses Tory party conference

The UK prime minister Theresa May says only her conservative party can build a  a united Britain in her centerstage address at the Tory party conference.

It comes after she announced her government will begin the official process of leaving the European Union no later than the end of March next year.

She also branded the Labour opposition as being the "nasty party".
