UK PM addresses Tory party conference

The UK prime minister Theresa May says only her conservative party can build a  a united Britain in her centerstage address at the Tory party conference.

It comes after she announced her government will begin the official process of leaving the European Union no later than the end of March next year.

She also branded the Labour opposition as being the "nasty party".

Theresa May spent much of her speech talking about fairness and equality and saying that the Tories will be the party to stand up for the weak.

Our UK correspondent Olly Barratt is at the conference in Birmingham and says the motives behind this style of speech are apparent.
