A daughter of murdered Russian opposition leader Boris Nemtsov says she has left Russia to live in exile.


She accuses pro-Kremlin media of spreading hateful propaganda.

Libya parliament rejects UN-power sharing proposal


Libya's elected government has rejected a United Nations-proposed power-sharing deal

The country's parliament suspended it's involvement in UN-brokered talks after claims the draft proposal would give a rival administration more power.

Libya has been hit by instability since Colonel Muammar Gaddafi was overthrown in 2011 - the country currently has two rival governments in place, and nearly two thousand militia groups vying for territorial control.

Activists seek to move ahead on murder charges in Tamir Rice case

Community leaders and activists in Cleveland, Ohio say they plan to invoke a rarely-used law to bypass prosecutors and go directly to a judge to request murder charges against the officers involved in the killing of Tamir Rice.

Rice, a 12-year-old African-American boy, was shot dead in November while playing with a toy gun in a park. This comes amid widespread skepticism towards the court system after prosecutors have declined to bring charges against officers in similar cases.

Protests over policing at Texas pool party

Hundreds of protesters have marched to a swimming pool, where a white police officer pinned a black teenage girl to the ground and pointed his gun at others.

The police officer was filmed as he responded to a fight that had broken out at a pool party in McKinney, Texas on Friday.

US May Charge GM With Criminal Wire Fraud Over Faulty Ignitions

The US Justice Department is weighing up criminal wire fraud charges against General Motors, over the company's failure to recall vehicles equipped with faulty ignition switches - that's according to the Wall Street Journal.

The newspaper says US prosecutors haven't yet made a final decision but hope to reach a settlement with the car maker by around the end of the summer.

Argentinian involved in FIFA scandal turns himself in


An Argentinian media executive wanted by U.S. authorities over the FIFA bribery investigation has turned himself in to Italian authorities after two weeks on the run. 

U.S prosecutors have accused Alejandro Burzaco, along with two other Argentinians, of bribing soccer officials in order to win lucrative media rights contracts to international tournaments.

Red Cross: 'urgent action' needed to avert South Sudan disaster


As the world's newest country nears its fourth year of existence, South Sudan is facing a disastrous reality.  

Extreme levels of violence in and around the Town Leer, over the last month, have forced an estimated 100,000 people to flee their homes and to seek safety in low-lying swamps.

This comes on top of around two million people already displaced during the past eighteen months since fighting broke out between government and rebel forces.

Police Question Prison Worker After NY Jail Break

The manhunt continues for two inmates who used power tools to escape
an Upstate New York prison, but police suspect the breakout may have

US Army website restored after Syrian hack attack

Louisiana ordered to free prisoner after 40+ years in solitary confinement

An American prisoner who has spent more than 40 years in solitary confinement could soon be freed, after a judge ordered the state of Louisiana to let him go.

Decision on EU migration plan to be delayed

An European Union plan to distribute 40,000 Syrian and Eritrean migrants across its 28 member states is likely to be delayed well past the summer.

Greek PM says demands for pension cuts by international creditors remain a red line.

Greece's Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras is saying a deal may be done on his country's debt if international creditors drop their demands for pension cuts.

Russia's Foreign Ministry blames Ukraine for recent fighting.

Russia's Foreign Minister says that the G7 group of countries have been held hostage by Ukraine.


It comes as the G7 issues a firm statement condemning Russia's, "illegal," annexation of Crimea and tying further sanctions to Russia adherence to the conditions of the latest ceasefire, which has been shaken by a recent spike in fighting.

HSBC TO CUT 10% OF WORKFORCE

Europe's biggest bank, HSBC, has announced plans to cut as many as 25 000 jobs worldwide and increase its focus on Asia.
