Libya parliament rejects UN-power sharing proposal

Libya's elected government has rejected a United Nations-proposed power-sharing deal

The country's parliament suspended it's involvement in UN-brokered talks after claims the draft proposal would give a rival administration more power.

Libya has been hit by instability since Colonel Muammar Gaddafi was overthrown in 2011 - the country currently has two rival governments in place, and nearly two thousand militia groups vying for territorial control.

Jeff Rathke speaking for the US State Department said the peace talks were still on track.
