Iran and Israel have halted mutual missile and drone attacks after
the most serious exchange of fire since a ceasefire took effect in April
— with Iran launching nearly thirty ballistic missiles at Israeli air
bases and Israel striking targets across Iran including in Tehran and
Isfahan.
US President Donald Trump placed a direct phone call to Israeli Prime
Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Monday to demand a halt to further
retaliatory strikes — an intervention that appears to have worked, with
the Israeli leader accepting the demand.
Iran's central military command has warned it will resume hostilities
if Israel carries out further acts of aggression, including in southern
Lebanon.
John Brennan, former director of the Central Intelligence Agency,
says the domestic pressure on President Trump is now intensifying on
both the political and economic fronts.
