British Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer is preparing to announce a ban on under-16s using social media within days, after a government consultation drew more than a hundred and sixteen thousand responses — with nine in ten parents backing restrictions.

Australia introduced its own ban on under-16s accessing social media platforms last December, but six months on, the country's eSafety regulator has flagged significant concerns about enforcement.
