London's Transport Regulator Refuses to Grant Uber New Licence

London will not grant a new licence to ride hailing app Uber, after the body Transport for London found the services was not 'fit and proper'.


An independent review of Uber's systems discovered more than 14 thousand rides by unauthorised drivers in late 2018 and early 2019.


But Uber says it has made significant changes to its safety standards, as UK correspondent Natalie Powell reports.

France announces new measures to tackle domestic violence

The French government has announced it will recognize coercive control in the legal system and impose tougher penalties on men convicted of domestic violence, after a three month public consultation.

AUSTRALIA: China attempted to plant an agent in Australian parliament according to a report

Australia's spy agency ASIO is folllowing up on reports that Chinese intelligence figures tried to plant one of their agents into the Australian Parliament.
The man at the heart of the claims, a luxury car dealer called Nick Zhao, was found dead in a Melbourne motel room in March this year after he had reportedly approached the agency.

FCC votes to bar Huawei and ZTE from subsidy program over national security risks

The US Federal Communications Commission voted Friday to designate Chinese tech giants Huawei and ZTE as national security threats.

KILLER OF BRITISH BACKPACKER GRACE MILLANE CONVICTED OF MURDER

UK to repatriate orphaned children from Syria

Otto Warmbier's parents call on Seoul to address N. Korea's rights abuses
