After PM Modi condemns mob violence, another person lynched

Just hours after Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi condemned violence in the name of cow protection, a mob killed a Muslim man over suspicion that he was carrying meat.

The deceased was a meat trader.

In the last 22 months, 18 instances of vigilante violence have been reported across India.

President Trump considers order to tighten regulations on food aid

UN to vote Friday on smaller UN peacekeeping budget

The United Nations is due to vote Friday on its annual peacekeeping budget, which is more than half a billion dollars less than the current one.


The deal negotiated this week includes a roughly seven percent reduction in America's contribution, after calls by U.S. President Donald Trump to cut funding to the world body.

Trump announces plan to expand offshore drilling

Donald Trump has announced a program to expand offshore drilling in areas that were off-limits to the industry under the Obama administration.

The US President made the announcement as part of a series of initiatives he unveiled during a speech at the Energy Department.

Trump announces initiatives for “energy dominance”

Donald Trump has announced a series of initiatives to boost domestic energy production, saying his goal is to make America energy independent.

The president was flanked by Vice-president Mike Pence and Energy Secretary Rick Perry at an event that's part of a week-long series promoting his energy policy.



Trump said a key element of his strategy is to remove regulations which he says have hampered growth in the US energy sector.

US sanctions Chinese bank over North Korea

The U.S. Treasury has issued sanctions against  Bank of Dandong, a Chinese bank and Chinese individuals, in hopes of cutting off North Korea's access to the global financial system.

The goal for the Trump administration is to starve Pyongyang of the cash needed to continue its pursuit of nuclear weapons and missile technology.

White House tries to defend Trump tweets

The White House is trying to defend a series of very personal attacks by U.S. President Donald Trump as him just fighting back as he promised to do.

The American president posted a pair of tweets questioning the mental health of the morning show hosts on MSNBC, and some particularly nasty comments about the woman, Mika Brzezinski.

Deputy Spokesperson Sarah Huckabee Sanders insists the president has a right to fight fire with fire and that his tweets were not inappropriate.

US State Dept says visa applicants from Travel Ban countries must prove "bona fide" relationships

The US State Department has announced that people from the six
countries affected by the travel ban will need to have close relations
already in the US or a job with a US entity in order to be granted
entry.

Earlier in the week, the US Supreme Court decided to uphold parts of

Police Searching for Pilot in Helicopter Attack on Venezuelan Supreme Court

Details about a helicopter attack on the Venezuelan Supreme Court have begun to emerge.

Iraq says Islamic State has fallen, US more cautious

The U.S. military says significant progress is being made in the battle to retake Mosul from the Islamic State.

The Iraqi military says the "fictitious state has fallen," after their forces retook the important and symbolic al-Nuri mosque from Islamic State fighters.

US growth rate increased for 1st Quarter

The US economy grew at a slightly faster pace during the first three
months of this year.

US claims Syria heeded warnings over chemical attacks

US Secretary of Defense Jim Mattis said that Syria backed down on plans to carry out another chemical attack, after the White House issued a stern warning.

Many are aghast at the personal, vicious and vulgar attack U.S. President Donald Trump posted on Twitter about MSNBC morning host Mika Brzezinski, but his staff is pushing back.
