TALKS DUE OVER BIRMINGHAM RUBBISH STRIKE

Talks are taking place on Wednesday over a long-running strike that's seen rubbish piling up on the streets of the UK's second city of Birmingham.

Hundreds of bin-workers began a strike over pay and conditions on 11th March, which has caused a massive backlog of uncollected waste and growing rodent problems.

The City Council says it's made a fair pay proposal - but it's latest offer has been rejected by union members.

Craig Cooper, strategic director of city operations, says some rubbish is being removed with support from the police and army.
