Uganda Records First Mpox Death

Uganda reported its first death from Mpox as the total number of confirmed infections in the country reached 164.

 

Uganda's Ministry of Health says the death occurred in Masindi District, in the country's mid-Western Region.

White House: North Korean troops are "fair target" if they fight in Ukraine

US National Security Council spokesperson John Kirby says North Korean troops would be considered "fair game" and "fair targets" if they do deploy to fight in Ukraine. His statement comes after the Pentagon confirmed that North Korean troops were being trained in Russia.

Dream Party calls for end to opposition in Georgia

India's eastern coast braces itself for Cyclone Dana's landfall

According to India's meteorological department a cyclone is expected to make landfall between Thursday and Friday, on India's eastern coast.

Flights and train services to and from two of India's eastern states have been suspended as the region braces itself for heavy rainfall and gusty winds reaching upto 120kmph.

The government says it's to reduce environmental damage and protect the health of children.

One study found around a million people in England vape without ever having smoked cigarettes.

US confirms North Korean troops now in Russia


North Korean troops are now in Russia, the United States confirmed on Wednesday.


Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin told reporters there is "evidence" of soldiers in the region.


Ukraine's military intelligence earlier said troops were expected to arrive in Russia to join Moscow's fight against Ukraine's incursion.

Independent Review Of UK Water Industry

An independent review of the UK water industry is being set up, after public outcry over bills and sewage pollution.


Abolishing the regulator Ofwat is among the options that'll be considered by the commission. It's also expected to focus on regulation, infrastructure and cleaning up Britain's lakes, rivers and seas.


Bills for some customers are forecast to go up by more than 40% by 2030, while the amount of untreated sewage being released into waterways has hit record highs.
