Dream Party calls for end to opposition in Georgia

The founder of the ruling Dream Party in Georgia has vowed to ban
opposition parties should they win in parliamentary elections this
weekend.

The country has been given candidate status to join the European Union
but officials in Brussels say democratic backsliding has effectively
frozen its membership bid.
