Indian airline Vistara cuts flights amid pilot shortage

India's Vistara Airlines says that it is cutting 25 to 30 flights per amid disruptions which are reportedly due to a shortage of pilots.

Vistara, which is owned by the Tata group and Singapore Airlines, has cancelled dozens of flights this month.

Campaigning for Indian election picks up pace

With India set to begin voting next week, election campaigns have picked up across the country.

Indian opposition leaders hold hunger strike

An opposition party in India is holding another day-long hunger strike, to protest the arrest of a prominent leader from their ranks. Its supporters also held demonstrations in cities around the world over the weekend.

Arvind Kejriwal, the sitting chief minister of Delhi, was arrested last month by India's financial watchdog.

Critics say his arrest is aimed at weakening the opposition's fight against Prime Minister Narendra Modi in this month's elections.

Trump raises more than $50 million at a Florida Fundraiser according to campaign

Former US President Donald Trump has, according to his campaign, raised more than $50 million dollars  in one night at a Florida fundraiser.

As our Washington correspondent Jagruti Dave reports, Mr Trump is still playing catch up on campaign finances with his rival Joe Biden, even though this latest haul is twice what Mr Biden raised at a New York event last month.

100 Victims of Kidnapping Rescued in Nigeria

Police authorities in Nigeria say operatives of the force have rescued over 100 victims of kidnapping in the country.

US President Joe Biden vows to rebuild collapsed bridge after fatal crash

US President Joe Biden has vowed to rebuild the Francis Scott Key Bridge in the city of Baltimore, after it collapsed last week.



A cargo ship lost power and hit the two-and-a-half kilometre structure, bringing it down and killing six construction workers.


During a visit to Baltimore on Friday, the President observed the crash site, spoke with local officials and also met families of the victims.

US job far exceeded expectations in March

The US economy added 303,000 jobs in March, many more than expected, according to new data on Friday.


Analysts warn the ongoing strength of the labour market, and inflation high above the Federal Reserve's 2% target, could see the central bank keep interest rates higher for longer.

Earthquake hits NYC

New York City and the surrounding areas have been hit with a rare 4.8
magnitude earthquake.

Officials say there are no reports of damage at this time, and the
city's mayor and the state's governor are assessing the impacts.

The United States Geological Survey confirmed the epicenter was in
Lebanon, New Jersey.
