Italy backs Mark Rutte in race to be NATO's next Secretary General

Italy's government has backed outgoing Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte to be the next head of NATO.

The alliance's current Secretary General, Jens Stoltenberg, is due to step down in October after a decade in the role.
