UK GOVT WINS RWANDA VOTE

The UK government has won a crucial vote on a controversial plan to send some asylum seekers to Rwanda to have their claims processed there.

The new legislation is designed to address concerns raised by the country's Supreme Court in a ruling last month which declared the plan unlawful.

Epic Games wins lawsuit against Google over app store monopoly

A California jury has ruled that Google has been operating an illegal monopoly with its app store for Android devices.

Epic Games, the maker of the popular video game Fortnite, sued the search engine giant over the fees it charges in its Google Play store.

US inflation remained moderate in November

Price increases in the US remained moderate in November, according to new inflation data.


US CPI ticked up 0.1% last month, and was up 3.1% from a year ago.


The data was published ahead of the Federal Reserve's final rate meeting of the year.

Texas Supreme Court blocks woman’s emergency abortion request

The Texas Supreme Court has overturned a lower court's order allowing a Dallas woman to get an emergency abortion. Kate Cox had made the request under the state's "medical emergency" exception after learning her fetus had a fatal condition and was unlikely to survive.  Hours before the ruling came down - Cox's lawyers announced she had left the state to terminate her pregnancy. U.N General Assembly convenes Emergency meeting to vote on a ceasefire resolution in Gaza

The United Nations General Assembly is set to vote on a draft
resolution today (Tuesday) calling for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza.
This emergency meeting comes after the Security Council failed to pass
a resolution last week on the matter, when the U.S vetoed the vote.
Palestinians and several Arab countries are hoping that the vote on
Tuesday will again demonstrate widespread global support for ending
the Israel-Hamas war, now in its third month.

French government battles to save proposed immigration legislation

The French government was scrambling on Tuesday to try to save its proposed immigration legislation.

In a surprise vote on Monday, French lawmakers decided not to have a debate on the bill, which was a major setback for the government.

Navalny still ‘missing’ in prison, 6 days after scheduled court appearance

Russian jailed opposition politician Alexei Navalny is missing from the penal colony where he's serving time, his legal team says. The lawyers haven't been able to access Mr. Navalny, who was due to appear in a court hearing from the prison where he's serving his 11,5 year term, for nearly a week. The prison authorities informed Navalny's team he was no longer among the inmates at that facility. The Kremlin says it's unaware of and is not interested in following Navalny's whereabouts. UN Climate Summit Risks Failure Over Future Of Fossil Fuels

The UN climate summit taking place in Dubai risks ending in failure, due to disagreements about the future role of fossil fuels.


Delegates from oil rich countries at COP-28 want to see more use of carbon capture technology, to limit harmful emissions from traditional energy sources.


But many scientists and developed nations believe that drastically reducing the use of fossil fuels is the only way to stop global warming.


Many nations prone to flooding have said the continued use of oil and gas is a 'death sentence', as sea levels continue to rise.

FBI chief in India in the wake of US assassination attempt indictment

FBI director Christopher Wray is on a three-day visit to New Delhi a few weeks after the United States accused an Indian government official of being involved in a conspiracy to kill a Sikh separatist leader on American soil.

Top Indian University prohibits protests on campus
