Reports: Italy notifies China that it's pulling out of BRI


The Italian government has notified China that it's pulling out of the Belt & Road Initiative or BRI, according to reports from multiple news outlets.

Italy became the first and only G7 nation to join the BRI when it signed a memorandum of understanding with China in 2019.

G7 leaders pushing for more sanctions on Russia in support of Ukraine


Ukraine's leader Volodymyr Zelensky met virtually with leaders of the Group of Seven nations on Wednesday to discuss their continued support for Kyiv, and look at added sanctions on Russia.

But U.S. lawmakers are struggling to find consensus on their latest round of military aid for Ukraine.

US files first war crime charges in Russia-Ukraine war

The US Justice Department has filed its first war crime charges in
relation to the Russia-Ukraine conflict, accusing four Russians of
torture.

The US says the men kidnapped an American who was living in Ukraine.

Senate to vote on Ukraine, Israel funding

The US Senate is expected to vote on a $111bn bill to fund conflicts

Saudi Arabia urges US to show restraint in response to Red Sea attacks

It's been reported that Saudi Arabia has appealed to Washington to
show restraint responding to attacks by Yemen's Houthis against ships
in the Red Sea.
Since the start of the war between Hamas and Israel on October 7th -
the Houthis have been firing drones and missiles along vital shipping
lanes.
Riyadh fears that any U.S intervention could escalate tensions.

Coral Reef in Tahiti Damaged by Paris 2024 Olympic Surfing Judges Tower Construction


A coral reef in the French Polynesian island of Tahiti has been damaged as a result of construction efforts for the 2024 Olympics. 


Tahiti is hosting the Olympics surfing competition, but plans to build a large judges tower for the event have been surrounded by controversy. 


This latest development has seen construction "paused".

India's moon mission's propulsion module is back in Earth's orbit

India's space research organisation ISRO says it has successfully brought back a part of the rocket that carried the country's historic Moon mission in August.

The part known as the  "propulsion module" detached itself from the lunar lander after bringing it close to the moon, and now has re-entered Earth's orbit.

UK TO PUBLISH RWANDA MIGRATION LEGISLATION SHORTLY

The UK government is expected to publish fresh legislation for its Rwanda migration policy by the end of the week.

It follows a new treaty signed with Rwanda on Tuesday.

That and the legislation are designed to satisfy legal concerns with the plan which would see some asylum seekers sent to Rwanda to pursure their claims there.

The opposition Labour Party says the policy is a gimmick.

Cyclone Michuang batters India's southeastern coastline

A high intensity cyclone that battered India's southeastern coastline has now weakened, but heavy rainfall in the region is expected to continue for another day.

17 people were killed in southern India as the regions in the cyclone's path saw record breaking rainfall - impacting travel and bringing daily life to a halt.

Weather experts have blamed climate change, saying it's very rare for the Indian Ocean to see a storm of this intensity so late in the year.

Japan Defense Minister expresses concern about US military Osprey flights

Japan says it has lingering concerns with the US military continuing to fly Osprey aircraft in the country after one crashed last week.


The US has identified the eight personnel who were on board the plane when it went down near Yakushima island on November 29.
