Cyclone Michuang batters India's southeastern coastline

A high intensity cyclone that battered India's southeastern coastline has now weakened, but heavy rainfall in the region is expected to continue for another day.

17 people were killed in southern India as the regions in the cyclone's path saw record breaking rainfall - impacting travel and bringing daily life to a halt.

Weather experts have blamed climate change, saying it's very rare for the Indian Ocean to see a storm of this intensity so late in the year.
