Liberia heads to polls to elect next President and Lawmakers


Polling is underway in the West African nation of Liberia.

Incumbent president George Weah is seeking another six-year term and faces nineteen other candidates.

The elected leader in this crucial election has a tough task of improving the economy and the living conditions of Liberians, which have been declining over the last few years.

Nigerian Police Officer Sentenced to Death for Shooting Lawyer Dead

DR Congo Tells East African Regional Force to Fight Rebels or Leave

Taxi drivers go on strike in Italy

Biden confirms 11 Americans dead in Israel, says countries are facing "hostage crisis" in Gaza

President Biden says at least 11 Americans are now known to have been killed in Israel, and he says that the US government believes it is "likely" that American citizens are among the hostages being held in Gaza by Hamas.


The US is scrambling to provide Israel with additional supplies of munitions and other weaponry.

4,000 more workers join auto workers strike

US steps up its response to Israel-Hamas war

The United States is moving an aircraft carrier and fighter jets to the eastern Mediterranean, in a sign of support amid fears of an escalating crisis in the region. 


Several American citizens were killed in what President Joe Biden calls an "unprecedented and appalling assault" by the Hamas terror-group over the weekend. 


Following the attack, Israel has ordered a "complete siege" of Hamas-controlled Gaza, with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Monday telling his US counterpart that his county has no other choice but to unleash a ground operation into the Palestinian enclave.
